Theo Ratliff and Matt Barnes, the Lakers’ New Golden Defense

Matt Barnes, one of the top defenders, decided to accept an offer from the Lakers on the same day that another defender, Theo Ratliff, signed a one-year, $1.35-million contract with the team. Ratliff, 37, has the experience of 16 seasons and a long and rewarding career behind him.
He managed an average of 2.4 blocked shots in his career and is considered one of the best defensive big men in the league.Matt Barnes, the former forward for the Orlando Magic is the second addition to the Lakers’ team. He signed a two year contract after he surprised the Cleveland Cavaliers by turning down their more lucrative offer that was almost twice the amount the Lakers put on the table.
The 30 year old defender had an average of 8.8 points in his last season for Orlando. After the good news, Lakers fans will get some bad news also, finding out that the team was unable to sign Raja Bell.
